
Clarke County EMA Director, Toshia Evans tells CCHT: “EMA Received report of spill incident involving crude oil and produced water . The spill, resulting from a leak at a 90 degree weld on a flow line , has caused an estimated 2 barrels of crude oil and 20 barrels of produced water to enter a small stream and flow into a previously existing beaver pond . The company’s emergency response crews were immediately deployed to the scene , and efforts are underway to contain and mitigate the environmental impact of the spill. DEQ and MEMA has been notified”.
Clarke County EMA has been on site most of the day working the spillage and helping to ensure all hazardous materials are eliminated from the waterways.
This occurred on a private road just off Highway 18 East of Quitman near County Road 446.
