Accident on N. Jackson Interrupts Power
QUITMAN – Accident causes chaos on North Jackson Ave. Officials tell CCHT that a one vehicle accident involving a power pole shut down all traffic along North Jackson Ave. near Anderson Street and next to the Quitman Sports Complex.
According to sources on the scene the vehicle was being driven by a female who suffered some sort of medical condition which caused her to leave the road and slam into a culvert.
The car then went airborne for a moment, once the car sat back down on the ground then plowed through the newly installed cyclone fence and struck a power pole head-on.
The driver was transported to a local hospital by Paratech EMS for minor injury evaluation.
Mississippi Power crews were called to the scene to disconnect power to the area while a new pole was installed.
Quitman Police and Fire Department also responded and assisted with the scene.
No further information is available at this time. No names released out of respect for all parties involved.
