BYRON KEMP GUN RAFFLE TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE – GUN BENEFIT FOR BYRON KEMP -On March 5, 2021, Byron started having unbearable pain in his mid-right side of his abdomen. He went to his local clinic thinking he may have a parasite. That following Monday he went to the Emergency room due to his pain worsening. The doctor did a CT scan which showed some inflammation around his small and large intestine. An appointment was made with a GI doctor in Hattiesburg. They did a colonoscopy and did not see any signs of cancer in his colon. The doctor was unable to get through to the small intestine due to the swelling around the valve. The doctor then did an upper endoscopy where they found a liter of fluid in his stomach. After the fluid was removed the doctor prescribed medicine to treat Byron for what they thought was Crohn’s disease. A placebo pill was given to Byron in order to see if it would travel through his intestines before they sent a camera pill down. For a few days the pain was relieved until he came down with a stomach virus. This brought back the pain. Another CT scan was issued where they then found a tumor on his ileocecal valve. Emergency surgery was performed and they found the tumor had blocked his intestine 100%. After several days recovering in the hospital, Byron was told he had Stage 3 colon cancer. After speaking with an oncologist, he was recommended to undergo 12 rounds Chemotherapy. At this time Byron has finished 9 of the 12 rounds. He has a had a few delays due to his WBC and Platelets getting low but overall has done really well. He will have another CT scan in October. He will continue to have CT scans every 6 months. We know there is a high risk of his cancer coming back but our God is in control and He will be with us always during this journey.
