KAREY WILLIAMS ANNOUNCES SHERIFF CANDIDACY

I am proud to announce that I have qualified to run for Sheriff of Clarke County. I have sought this position for several years and would appreciate your vote in the upcoming election. I am running as Republican and will be on the primary ballot in August.

I was born and raised in Enterprise where I still live today. My career began with the Meridian Police Department in 2000 and graduated from Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy (MLEOTA) the same year. Since then, I have served as a Patrol Officer/Deputy, DUI Deputy, Shift Sergeant, Investigator and currently serving as the Lieutenant over Investigations for the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office.

While serving in Law Enforcement for the past 23 years, I have worked hard to gain as much experience and training as possible. I am a state certified law enforcement instructor and teach classes for the part time Police Academy/Corrections Officers class at Meridian Community College. I have been an instructor in many facets of law enforcement for several years. My instructor certifications began with Standardized Field Sobriety Training (SFST) where I earned my instructor certification around 2003. Shortly after, I became an Emergency Vehicle Operator Instructor (driving Instructor), a defensive tactics Instructor and a less lethal munitions Instructor. I currently serve as the Lead Driving Instructor for Lauderdale County. I have also earned my Less Lethal Munitions Master Instructor Certification through PACEM ALS.

Being one of the founding members of the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team has earned me over fifteen years of SWAT experience. I have served as an Entry Team Operator, Entry Team Leader and finally as SWAT Team Commander.

During all this time I have also been employed by the Town of Stonewall as a Patrol Officer. I have worked for Stonewall in a part-time capacity since October of 2000. I have more recently been employed by the Quitman and Enterprise Police Departments to conduct some of their training.

I attend church at the Barnett Independent Church in Pachuta. I do on occasion visit other churches to sing when invited. I volunteer as the Senior Vice President for this chapter of the Southern States Police Benevolent Association (SSPBA). I also volunteer for the Wounded Warriors of Mississippi, at a week-long annual bow hunt in Enterprise.

I have been married to my wonderful wife Brandy Moore Williams for almost twenty years. We have four daughters Taylor Wayman, Shelby McKenzie, Dani Ford and Karigan Williams. All of which were raised in Enterprise and graduated from Enterprise High School. My Parents are Louise Murray and the late James H. “Sonny” Williams. Grandparents include Pete and Lou Alice Williams and Allen and Eleanor Murray.

I am a Law enforcement Officer, not a politician. That being said, I may not tickle ears and tell people what they want to hear. I will be accessible to the people of Clarke County and I will take the position of Sheriff very seriously. I will treat each and every citizen of Clarke County with respect and demand that anyone working for me does the same. The reputation of fairness and hard work that I have earned over the past twenty-three years speaks for itself. You may be able to find a few folks that don’t like me because of the outcome of their case. However, you will not find anyone that can honestly say I was unfair.
