I-20 Accident Causes Havoc in Clarke Co.

It seems as if all “detour traffic” has now cleared the Clarke County area. It’s truly a blessing that no one was killed or seriously injured into todays accidents in Meridian. We recieved word that only minor injuries were invloved which were either transported by ambulance or private vehicles and a total of 31 vehicles (cars, trucks, SUV’s & 18 wheelers) were damaged or destroyed.

The first accident occurred around 11:35 a.m. on I-20 near Chunky River Harley Davidson which was said to be a 7 car pile-up, during that accident another vehicle came through with a busted oil line which sprayed the interstate with hot oil which caused multiple other accidents.

The accident littered Interstate 20 from the 157 mile marker to the 150 mile marker for a total of 7 miles. Other accident occurred along the route from people not paying attention and rear-ending other motorist etc.

Officials in Clarke County dealt with the detour traffic for nearly 4 hours which backed traffic up from Highway 11 in Enterprise all the way to Highway 45 4-lane.

You mayvsit Scotty Ray’s page for pics and video of the carnage, and we’re sure it will be on WTOK news tonight.

CCHT would like to thank the Clarke County Sheriff’s Dept. Mississippi Highway Patrol, Enterprise Police & Fire Dept. Clarke County EMA, MDOT and all others involved with helping with taffic control today. Everyone did a great job!
