Drive-By Shooting Suspect Arrested without Incident

CCHT is told that the suspect said to be responsible for the drive-by shooting has been taken into custody. The incident occurred in the 300 Block of West Lynda Street in Quitman next to the Quitman Jr. High School.

Chief Deputy Barry White tells CCHT that Damorian Thomas, 21 b/m has been taken into custody and charged with multiple felonies. White says Thomas turned himself into the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department after word got around of the drive-by shooting.

Quitman Police Department Investigator Ryan Evans tells CCHT that approx. 3 or 4 shots were fired into the home while occupants were inside.

No one was injuried during the drive-by shooting, the alleged gun, a .9mm was also recovered from the suspect vehicle which was located in Meridian.

Quitman Police Department and Clarke County Investigators actively worked the crime scene for several hours collecting evidence.

Chief White says Thomas is currently being housed at the Clarke County Jail and more information will be released Monday after the bond is set by the judge.
