Highway 145 Accident Injures One –

Emergency Officials responded to the scene of a one vehicle accident today on Highway 145 near the intersection of County Road 1412 just North of Quitman.

The vehicle was traveling southbound towards Quitman when it left the road and struck a tree. The driver was temporarily trapped inside the vehicle due to coming to a rest on the side of a steep embankment.

Firefighters with Quitman Fire & Rescue were able to stabilize the vehicle so they could gain access into the vehicle and render aid.

Once extracted, the driver was then transported to a Meridian Hospital by Paratech EMS for injury evaluation.

Clarke County Sheriff Deputies along with State Troopers with the Mississippi Highway Patrol and Officials with Clarke County Emergency Management Agency also assisted with the scene.

Highway 145 was shut down for approx. 30 mins while emergency tended to the driver. Traffic was rerouted around the scene to ensure safety to all involved at the wreck site.

No names will be released out of respect for all parties involved, and we will post further as it becomes available.

Great teamwork between all agencies invoked in helping free the driver from the vehicle in a quick and timely manner.
