12 Year Old Found Safe After Being Reported Missing

A 12 year old child is now back safe at home after being reported missing by family members on County Road 421 in the Hopewell Community. The call came in reporting the child missing just after noon on Friday. A search group was formed where local volunteer firefighters along with Clarke County Sheriff Deputies, Clarke County Emergency Management Agency and others from the community began walking the woods and searching the area.

After nearly a two hour search; Officials tell CCHT that an off-duty Mississippi Highway Patrol State Trooper was able to locate the child at a hunting camp a couple of miles down the road from the original reported location.

The child was escorted back home and turned over to the parents where everyone is said to be safe and sound.

Clarke County EMA Director David Sharp, who was enroute to the scene with the mobile command unit would like to thank everyone who assisted with this incident and appreciates everyone’s hard work in finding the child.

Officials with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) was also called to the scene to assist.
