DRIVE-BY SHOOTING UPDATE

Quitman P.D. Investigator, David Viverette tells CCHT “I received a call around 5:30 pm Saturday, January 28th about a shooting that occurred in the City of Quitman around the Shell Station and Willow Street area”.

During the investigation, officers noticed that the store had been struck at least four times, a nearby mobile home had been shot in three times, and car had been hit with bullets.

911 Dispatchers obtained a description of the possible suspect vehicle involved, a gray Dodge Charger. Nearby Sheriff Deputies who were responding to the shooting scene noticed a car matching the description unoccupied and sitting on the side of Highway 513 near the Airport Road.

The vehicle was towed from the location on Hwy 513 to the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office for evidence processing.

Viverette went on to say; As of today, (Wednesday) we’ve arrested two individuals Jacobey Buxton, 19 and a juvenile suspect (name withheld) who are facing felony charges. We’re currently seeking a third suspect at this time, Bobby Stokes III, a black male around 19 or 20 years old.

Upon investigating, we beleive there are about five individuals involved in the shooting. I’m doing everything I can to get these people locked up and charged because lives matter, and it’s my job to make sure that lives are preserved says Investigator Viverette.

They recklessly fired rounds in all directions and people were in danger. Fortunately, there were no injuries from the rounds that were fired; however, it did cause property damage and was a threat to everyone in the area.

A homeowner who had just gotten up to get a sandwich, said her home shot into three times and the pillow that was behind her caught a bullet and held it.

The evidence collected will be presented to the next Grand Jury. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.

CCHT will continue to follow and bring you any updates on this story as we have them from officials.
