Structure Fire on Thompson Ave.

QUITMAN – Multiple firefighters are currently on the scene of a structure fire in the 500 Block of Thompson Ave.

Quitman Fire Chief, James Grantham says the fire appears to have started above the stove and spread into the attic.

Multiple agencies on scene at this time, CCHT will have more to follow as soon as information becomes available from officials.

CCHT Video from the structure fire in the 500 Block of Thompson Ave. Quitman, East Quitman, Desoto, Rolling Creek and Stonewall Fire Departments responded to the scene shortly after 8:am this morning.

Upon firefighters arrival it was reported visible flames coming from the kitchen area. The flames then spread into the attic and other portions of the home.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, saving a lot of contents but the home appears to be a total loss.

Quitman Police Officers along with Clarke County Emergency Management Agency was on the scene offering assistance.

CCHT is told the American Red Cross has been called to assist the homeowner.

There were no injuries reported.
