Fire at Quail Run Apartments

Multiple Fire Departments responded to Quail Run Apartment Complex Thursday evening for a structure fire.
Quick thinking and actions by Quitman Police Officers helped save the apartment from being a total loss.
Officers quickly grabbed fire extinguishers from their patrol vehicles and began single-handily fighting the fire before fire engines arrived on scene.

Officers were able to put most of the fire out which appeared to have started in the kitchen area before it spread into the ceiling. By this time, Quitman Fire Department arrived where firefighters went to work fighting the remaining fire.
Other departments who responded were East Quitman, Desoto and Harmony. Stonewall and Rolling Creek were canceled while enroute to the scene.

CCHT would like to commend the Quitman Police and Fire Department along with all others who assisted in quickly saving the apartment.

Officials tell CCHT the apartment did sustain heavy smoke and water damage but most of the fire was contained to one area of the residence.

No injuries were reported.
