Chief Deputy Barry White tells CCHT a 911 call came in to Clarke County Dispatchers around 7:am yesterday morning, (6-27-22) reporting a white female laying in the ditch along the Stagecoach Road (CR 286). Upon deputies arrival and investigation it was determined the female was very intoxicated and/or dealing with drug related issues.

Chief White says Paratech EMS was called to the scene to check on the female before being transported to the Clarke County Jail.

Once at the jail, the female was placed in a secure holding cell until she could sober up.

At approx. 11:30 a.m. the female was found unresponsive inside the holding cell, where EMS was immediately dispatched to the jail to assist her.

White says, Paratech EMS transported the female to H. C. Watkins ER where she was stabilized and later transported to Rush Hospital in Meridian for further treatment.

Clarke County Sheriff Officials received word later that the female had passed away.

Chief White says the female will be taken to the crime lab in Jackson for an autopsy and until that is complete no further information is available at this time.

Sheriff Todd Kemp and staff sends their condolences to the family of the deceased loved one and will let the public be informed of any additional information once it becomes available.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is being requested to fully investigate this incident.
